Bev Cares About Our Children

Bev Stenehjem is driven by a commitment to quality education that will prepare our students to be successful in life as productive, happy adults. She will focus on academic rigor over administrative bureaucracy and financial bloat. She will prioritize quality educators and push for smaller class sizes.
Bev believes that education begins with the family, and that parents have the fundamental right to know what their children are being taught, the right to health choice freedom, and the right to protect every child’s online data from unscrupulous abuse. Furthermore, she believes our children should be taught that although the United States has never been perfect, it is still the best country in the world — one worth supporting, loving, and improving upon.

Bev’s Life Has Been About People And Service.

For more than 20 years Bev pursued a career as a certified senior human resources professional where she brought diverse groups together working toward common goals. To keep the company out of expensive lawsuits, Bev provided expertise in labor compliance while working within state and federal laws. She organized and ran training on diversity, equal opportunity and anti-harassment. In addition, she brought creative strategies to the table for recruiting high potential talent.

Along the way, Bev dedicated nine years to writing a newspaper column featuring Bay Area wineries culminating in publishing a historical photo book on California wineries. She has also helped organize important political candidate meet and greets, car parades, and action-oriented volunteer groups, particularly in the area of education.

Bev Is Someone You Can Trust

Bev and her husband of 37 years built their careers and raised three children. She grew up in a traditional California family that instilled in her a strong work ethic, a devotion to family and others, and a fundamental belief that life is good, America is great, and good things come to those who work for them. As often as she can, Bev promotes local businesses — the many fabulous restaurants, new businesses, and other events here in Reno.

Bev Is A Force For Positive Change

Soon after relocating to Reno, Bev’s eyes were opened to the problems befalling the local school board and realized that Washoe students were getting a second rate education. She knows we can and must do better.
